So we have this tiny garden. We put up wrought iron fence and then an inner fence to keep critters out. Looks nice and practical.
What a surprise when after we came back from vacation something seemed off as we looked at our garden. The garden looked – sparse. On closer inspection I could see that all of the green beans were gone. Not just the beans but the leaves and the stems. We are talking complete annihilation of the plant!! How is this possible in such a sweet looking garden.
And then I saw it. A little hole under the fence. Was it a bunny or a chipmunk?? It clearly wasn’t human. What is happening in this world? It used to be animals stayed away. They played in the forest. Got their food locally. They did not dig holes to steal from gardens. Garden stealing was only allowed if there was no fence!! Every rabbit and chipmunk knew this rule and followed it. Not anymore.
So sorry honey no green beans with dinner tonight.
Look closely you can see the hole.
Did you happen to find a pair of shoes and a little blue jacket?
They might belong to Peter Rabbit.
You might check with Mr. McGregor.
Just a thought.

I think it more likely is Peter’s kids. He never was big on rules, but then he was a little odd.
