Whenever we travel I always hope to get one good picture from which will be an inspiration for a painting. It doesn’t always turn out to be the case. Sometimes I think I have the perfect photo and then when I get ready to paint it…let’s just say the picture in my head is much better then what my eyes are seeing when I look at the canvas.

This year we went to St. Louis for our anniversary. Every anniversary is special and we always try to do something fun. My husband wanted to go to the botanical gardens. Which we did and I truly enjoyed it.

It was a warm and sunny day. There were kids on field trips, artists painting in the garden and there were people on private tours. It was a very busy place. We also had an amazing chowder soup and sour dough bread at the cafeteria. Excellent service and very attentive. Who knew a place like this could serve this kind of fabulous food. We skipped the wine but it was nice to have that option.

So here is my memory of our visit. The butterfly was a very cooperative subject and I took many photos until I got the right one.
