I took a mini workshop on mixed media. I have never done anything that is remotely considered mixed media, but I loved this woman’s art. So I got out paper and pen and took notes of what she was saying. Sounded like something I could do. Isn’t that what we think until we actually go and do it?
So I started with pieces of paper, mod podge and a board. Well the tearing of paper, gluing and layering isn’t the hard. Repeat and repeat this layering process until I felt it was enough. The hard part is deciding on what direction you are heading with this piece. In other words what picture should be used.
I looked at my sketches and selected a sketch of a sheep. I printed my drawing onto card stock. The sheep is now going on top of the many layers. More glue, markers and paint. Let’s see if this is becoming art or something else. He has tons of texture that looks aged and weathered. I need to stop with my layering. I think I am done.
So do you like it or does it totally miss the mark?
