From Old to New

I have paintings that are ok. I’ve painted them but they don’t wow me. My question to myself is: “would you buy this?” If my answer isn’t yes, I have to figure out what to salvage. Can I improve the painting or do I toss it?

I have a lot of art under my bed. Art I keep for no real reason. No one sees this art but me. A collection of art that reflects my artistic progress and failures.

So this is my most recent re-work. I like my second efforts better. I love color and this has a lot of color. Which do you like???

The new version with lots of crazy colors
The original red comet chick.

My Golden Comet

So when you see a photo of a baby chick and know nothing about it’s breed that doesn’t keep me from falling in love. This cute chick looks like she’s making her first adventure out of the henhouse. I remember my first time adventuring out on my own for the first time. I was 18.

It’s a right of passage to leave the family home and go out into the world not knowing if you have enough money, furniture or smarts to make it on your own. I had furniture but food mainly consisted of frozen peas cooked with a lot of butter. (I still love that.)

I managed money poorly and trusted others who I should not have trusted. I stumbled and got back up. I make dumb decisions that I learned from. My lack of understanding the adult world never physically harmed me or others. I am so thankful for that simple fact.

This baby chick doesn’t know where danger lurks and it will take a little luck and the other hens to keep her safe. I love her looks of determination. She’s going to be just fine.

Special thanks to “littlefarminthewoods” on Instagram for giving me permission to paint from their photo.

Paints Everything….

That’s what my friends say when others ask me what I paint. It’s true I pretty much will paint on anything. I do paint on paper and canvas but I also paint shoes, rocks, denim jackets, spools, ceramic and wood. Yep I do like to paint.

So recently I went shopping with my friend and we stopped at one of our favorite stores Pier 1. So what do I find in the clearance section? Two wood plates. The plates are priced 90% below the original price. In other words I’m going to save my husband a bunch of money if I but them; and so I do.

My friends asks me what I’m going to do with these plates. I say “I’m going to paint them.” She says “Of course you are”. ❤️

I’ve got one painted and I really like it. I probably shouldn’t say that about my own work, but it’s true. It can be hung on the wall or set in a stand.

Of course it is for sale for $30. I’m passing my good clearance price on to you.

“A Gentle Touch”. Wood plate 14” overall; 8” painting done in acrylic. $30
