Paints Everything….

That’s what my friends say when others ask me what I paint. It’s true I pretty much will paint on anything. I do paint on paper and canvas but I also paint shoes, rocks, denim jackets, spools, ceramic and wood. Yep I do like to paint.

So recently I went shopping with my friend and we stopped at one of our favorite stores Pier 1. So what do I find in the clearance section? Two wood plates. The plates are priced 90% below the original price. In other words I’m going to save my husband a bunch of money if I but them; and so I do.

My friends asks me what I’m going to do with these plates. I say “I’m going to paint them.” She says “Of course you are”. ❤️

I’ve got one painted and I really like it. I probably shouldn’t say that about my own work, but it’s true. It can be hung on the wall or set in a stand.

Of course it is for sale for $30. I’m passing my good clearance price on to you.

“A Gentle Touch”. Wood plate 14” overall; 8” painting done in acrylic. $30

Brahma Chickens

I don’t know a lot about chickens but I had a client ask me to paint his. This was the first time someone who wanted a painting didn’t have a picture to give me. He wanted me to come to his farm and take my own photographs. I did. He said paint what inspires me.

What I learned from this experience is to provide a sketch of my vision before I begin to paint. I had not done that. He assumed I was going to paint the chickens in one way but I painted them in another.

It was a learning experience and I hoped he really did love the pictures as he claimed. But next time I will approach this commission entirely different. Show a sketch then pick up a brush. These are the final paintings.

Amish Chickens

There really is no such thing as Amish chickens but I saw these feathery friends when we stopped at an Amish bakery in Kingston, Wisconsin. If you have never been to an Amish bakery you need to go and go now. It is soooo delicious.

So as I’m enjoying my cinnamon roll I see these chickens running around. Had to take their picture. Of course it means a painting.

This is a small acrylic. 5″x7″. I’m trying to stock up on small paintings for an upcoming event in Watertown. Lets hope I sell all that I have painted. 😃
