Is It A Fish?

So one of my dear friends gave my group of artists a challenge. She handed out several different wood pieces and said we need to paint them. She was leaving to spend her winter in Florida and wanted us to stay busy. She said (I’m sure it was more a promise) that upon her return there would be a party. She would be the judge to determine who painted their item the best. ❤️ I’m pretty sure there are prizes.

So one of my wood pieces was a fish. This fish with a big hole in the middle could hold a bottle of wine. I really couldn’t visualize this but I believed her. I have not painted in a while. I needed to start small and simple.

So here is my small and simple painted fish. A fisherman fly casting with his dog. Hope you like it. Now let’s open that bottle of wine!!!!

My Grandpa Bernett

This is a painting I recently finished of my grandfather.  I didn’t really know him very well as he died when I was 5. But I do remember him vaguely as an old man sitting in a chair watching Lawerence Welk.  There were a lot of grandchildren in the family. Grandpa and Grandma had 8 kids and my dad was one of the younger ones. I wanted to paint a family member; to paint someone from the past – to remember and honor him.
